【简况及历史】
位于印度洋西部的群岛国家，由115个大小岛屿组成。
16世纪葡萄牙人曾到此地。1609年英国入侵。1756年被法国佔领。1794年英国取代法国。以后英法多次易手，轮流佔领。1814年英法签订和约，塞席尔成为英国殖民地，归英在模裏西斯的殖民当局管辖。1903年改为英直辖殖民地。1970年实行内部自治。1976年6月29日宣告独立，成立塞席尔共和国，仍留在英联邦内。

The currency of Seychelles is called the Rupee (pl. Rupees). Rupee banknotes are issued in the following denominations: 10, 25, 50, and 100 Rupees.

CURRENCY IMPORT/EXPORT RESTRICTIONS:
Local currency can be imported for free, but export is limited to 2000 Rupees. There are no restrictions on import/export of foreign currency.

The current series of notes was issued in 1998. A new 100 Rupee note was issued in 2001. Older notes are redeemable.
