创作背景
在9.11事件后，麦当娜怀着自我反省的心情开始和製作人Mirwais Ahmadza?为她的录音室专辑《American Life》开始创作歌曲，录音开始于2001年末但由于麦当娜在拍摄电影一直被搁置下来，与此同时米高梅电影製片公司拍摄了James Bond的第二十部电影《择日而亡》，由Lee Tamahori执导，该电影的原声带主打曲在商业上比较失败，米高梅公司又寻找其他人来为电影创作歌曲。于是麦当娜成为了他们脑中的第一个选项，因为麦当娜原声大碟单曲曾在美国获得成功，MGM Music的执行副总裁解释了他们在2002年的这个选择：“和其他的艺人来就是在玩冒险，但对于麦当娜，她有一定的经历，她之前都给一些电影写过歌曲，而且都很完美。”在2002年2月中旬电影方透露电影主题曲将由麦当娜来演唱，有记者报导了对于这首歌有一个複杂的契约，可能有一百万美元左右的成本，包括了这首歌的本身和表演，推广，单曲发行和MV。
