剧情简介
主人翁是青少年时期与父亲失和而无法完成梦想的农场主人雷，有一天他听到神秘声音说：“你盖好了，他就会来。”于是他像着了魔一样刬平了自己的玉米田建造了一座棒球场，没想到他的棒球偶像真的来到那里打球，而且还因此而使他跟父亲之间好多年心结得以开解。

拍摄花絮
製作人在爱荷华州一个真正的农场上建造了这个棒球场。拍摄完成后，农场的这家人保留了这块地方，并在旁边加了一个小屋，只要你愿意，可以花上很少的钱住在那里。到了1990年，游客们可以在这里免费参观，要是喜欢的话还可以在里面打棒球。
·原着小说中，主人公雷·金塞拉和她的双胞胎兄弟即理察·金塞拉，结合在了一起(一个次要情节，电影中没有採用)
·W.P.金塞拉是小说的作者，曾经为加拿大的一家期刊杂誌写篇关于这部电影的评论。五颗星他给了四颗星，理由有二：他并不认为马克的角色有那么罪大恶极；此外他还不认为吉碧·霍夫曼(凯玲)看起来像是凯文·科斯特纳和艾米·玛蒂乾的孩子。
·拍摄期间，爱荷华州正经历着一场乾旱。为了让演员能够躲进玉米地里，必须在地里灌溉更多的水，以便让玉米秆长高。结果，这些玉米长得太快了。有段场景是玉米刚好及他的肩膀高，实际上他是踩在一块加高的厚木板上的。
·大量的草垛运来铺成了棒球场地，由于拍摄时间很紧，种植这些绿色植物时非常草率，结果全都死了。为了让这些草保持绿色，製片方只好给草上了油漆。

穿帮镜头
·在明尼苏达州的Chisholm，雷和特伦斯阅读的新闻报纸上，很多标题上的小镇的名字都被报社错误地拼写成了Chisolm。
·事实错误：道克·格雷厄姆实际上是用左手打棒球的。
